10 things millionaires do before breakfast.
Most people are familiar with the phrase “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” but turns out, it’s what you do BEFORE breakfast that is the most important. We gathered the top 10 things millionaires do before breakfast to ensure their success in all aspects of their lives.
They are eager students
Successful business people and entrepreneurs are never satisfied with the status quo. The reason they achieve extraordinary things in business, is because for the most part, they do things differently than the rest of us, they're always learning, so that they can constantly improve. Many billionaires credit their success to the fact that they are voracious readers.
These days, it's so easy to learn new things. Whether you prefer a book, an audio book, a podcast, webinar or attending a conference in person - the ways and means of how you get your information means that you can literally be learning anytime and anywhere. And here's the thing. If you read a book and get just 1 good idea that you can apply to your business or where you work - then that is a fantastic success for you. That's progress. I remember hearing a great quote:
"Knowledge is NOT power. It's the APPLICATION of what you learn that gives you power..."
So start applying what you learn and see the results.
They reward themselves for getting up early
That's right. These titans of business have a winners’ mindset. They get up early on purpose. They don't look at getting up early as a chore. Instead they look at it as an opportunity to win in their day. Whether it be to hit the gym, swim laps, go out for an early morning cycle, or just enjoying an early morning walk with their dog to catch the sunrise - they incorporate these pleasurable activities into their morning routine.
And afterwards - they feel great about getting their day started early...
They focus on their health
Millionaires in the making might be wise to dump the caffeine fixation and swap it with a perfectly hydrating glass of H20. People who don't drink a coffee every morning find that they sleep better, have more energy in the mornings and are more focused in the early afternoon. Plus, if you drink 2+ litres of water a day, you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin, and your body will thank you for the extra hydration.
And with their diet, they eat well, and focus on nourishing themselves, so that they can perform at their best, and live to enjoy the life they are creating.
They invest in family time
If you have children, morning time might be the best time to connect with them. Having more energy means you can keep up with the fun and games and help make wonderful memories for them to cherish in the future.
Make the family focus top priority every morning and you will come home every night to a happy household.
They have daily habits and rituals for success
A surprisingly easy habit to achieve is the habit of making your bed as soon as you wake. And let's face it, nothing beats coming home to a bed that's ready to be slept in and a clean and tidy bedroom (ok, if you're a billionaire, you probably have someone to make your bed for you, but you get the idea...)
"If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another.
By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter"...
Naval Admiral William McRaven,
(commencement speech at the University of Texas, Austin)
They are mindful
Deep breathing and mindful meditation can lead to more afternoon focus and a relaxed attitude. Many millionaires take the time to calm themselves and find their centre before diving into the hectic world of emails and meetings. If you are unsure on how to meditate, consider downloading a guided meditation class for your phone, finding a quite space and giving it a go, and remember, just start with a few minutes a day and build from there.
They set their intentions
Sure, you could go through your day just handling the daily 'busy-work' and get that done. OR, you could create your plan and work the plan.
At our office, the last thing we do before leaving work each day, is to create our plan for our next day.
We are very intentional about our goal to have all of the items on our list completed before 11AM the next day (and full disclosure, sometimes that's impossible, but it's a goal and challenge we set for ourselves every single day).
They have a passion project
In the morning, before the arrival of work emails, briefings and meetings can be an awesome time for those with a hobby or a passion project. By treating your first few hours as time to work on what you are truly passionate about, you can feel satisfied that you have made great strides toward your top (real) goal.
Think about how much work you can get done on your passion, one hour a day every day.
They prioritise their time
I love having the time to really connect with family and friends and check out what they've been up to (thank goodness for social media which makes this super easy). But with our busy schedules, sometimes that feels like an impossible task.
Allocate yourself some time each day to just interact with a friend or family member. It can literally be a quick 1-line message, or a phone call. Don't make your employment more important than the important people in your life...they need you too...
They have an attitude of gratitude
Next time you're out on an early morning walk, try this exercise. Say hello and give a smile to every person you encounter on your walk. I guarantee that you will feel amazing afterwards. Or, when you arrive into your office of a morning, take a second to feel grateful for the commercial office cleaner who cleaned it the night before..
According to Harvard Health Studies, being grateful has been proven to put people in a happier mindset.
It's so easy to go through life feeling bummed about something or another, but when you deliberately go out to feel grateful about things, amazing things start to happen. You will FEEL better, and you'll be more open to your day, your employment, your family and you will start to attract MORE of the good things that you want into your life.
In conclusion, the 10 things millionaires do before breakfast, are simple in reality, you just have to actually DO them. Take a moment and write down what you are grateful for right now, it will give you the energy and inspire you to take on the day ahead.
